The Institute of Neurosciences, Surat was established in August 2017 with a vision to become a leading centre for neuroscience healthcare, specialised treatment and knowledge-sharing for the benefit of the community. Planned as a 150-bedded neuro super-speciality hospital, the institute integrates advanced Neurosurgery, Surgical Oncology, Neurodiagnostics, Critical Care and Rehabilitation within a focused tertiary-care environment. The hospital was completed in a remarkably short construction period of 13 months, reflecting efficient planning, execution and coordinated project management. The total constructed area of the facility is approximately 9,290 sq. mt.

The institute is founded under the leadership of Dr. Manoj Satyavani, Dr.Anirudh Apte, and Dr. Ashok Patel, whose combined vision and clinical expertise have shaped the development of a comprehensive neuroscience centre dedicated to advanced neurological care, surgical excellence and patient-centred outcomes. Their collective approach focuses on integrating modern technology, multidisciplinary collaboration and evidence-based treatment protocols to elevate the standard of neuro care in the region.

The hospital follows a clearly structured vertical zoning strategy based on patient movement, clinical accessibility and departmental relationships. The Ground Floor accommodates the main arrival with Pharmacy, Information Desk and Waiting, along with Emergency Services and a comprehensive Radiology Department comprising CT, MRI and X-ray, enabling rapid diagnostic access for neurological and emergency patients.

The First Floor forms the principal outpatient zone with OPD consultation rooms, supported by a dedicated reception and waiting area. The Second, Third and Fourth Floors accommodate inpatient wards and private rooms, while the Fifth Floor brings together the principal Operation Theatre complex and Intensive Care Units, creating close clinical adjacency between surgery and critical care. The Sixth Floor accommodates Rehabilitation facilities and patient rooms, supporting recovery and longer-term neurological care.

A major architectural feature of the Institute of Neurosciences is the central atrium located behind the entrance lobby, which creates a grand sense of arrival while introducing natural light into the heart of the building. Upper floors visually overlook the atrium, creating a strong vertical connection across the hospital and improving internal orientation, openness and spatial continuity.

The project brings together specialised neuroscience care, advanced imaging, surgery, critical care, inpatient treatment and rehabilitation within a compact and integrated hospital environment, creating a focused facility designed around the complex clinical needs of neurological patients.
